Bio:

I went to Lipscomb from 1st grade through college. Some remembrances of Lipscomb include getting up early to steal the big black bucket, the New Orleans trip and Thweat’s “Be that as it may,” to everything. Promised Dad I would finish college before I married – so I did; graduated Sat. (6/3/67) and married Robert Robertson the next day (6/4/67). We’ve been married 38 years. Some of you may know Robert since we met at DLU. We moved to Murray, KY for 3 months while he finished his M.B.A. degree. Then we moved to Owensboro, KY where he taught at Kentucky Wesleyan College and I taught in the Daviess County school system. We lived there for 5 years and really enjoyed it. He accepted a position at Williams, Williams & Lentz CPA’s in Paducah, KY (he is a partner with the firm) and I had our first child (Holly ’72). I worked on my Masters in Home Economics, finishing my degree in 1977 before our second child (Mark ’77) was born. Five years later our third child (Matt ’82) was born.

We have 3 terrific kids who have greatly enriched our lives and have opened the doors to wonderful friends. Both boys kicked for the football team and also played soccer in high school and college. We traveled a lot with soccer from Denver, CO to Coca Beach, FL. We missed that when they went to college. Holly went to DLU one year; the Backlog (1990) has many pictures in it that she took. She transferred the next year to Harding University to major in speech communications and met and married John Losher from Troy, MI. The best thing about this marriage is the grandkids. They have twins Kevin and Elizabeth (4/1/02), in the picture, and Anna (7/29/05). They, of course, are adorable. I love that they live here and I see them often. Holly taught school before the twins were born and has received both bachelor and masters degrees. Mark, a DLU graduate (both B.S. and M.B.A.) lives in Nashville and has worked in management at Old Navy in Gallatin for five years. He has been married to Katie Baker, a DLU graduate, for three years. Our son-in-law and daughter-in-law are wonderful Christians and so are their parents. Two down and one to go! Matt also lives in Nashville, just graduated from DLU, and is busy looking for a job. It’s great to no longer have to pay tuition! Both boys seem to like Nashville and we are only 2 hours away.

We have lived in Paducah for 33 years and raised our children here. It has been a good place to live and we have lots of great friends. We worship at Lone Oak Church of Christ where Robert is an elder and I am over the Nursery Department. We have a great church family and enjoy the work we do.

We have enjoyed traveling more, the last 2 years. On two occasions I have traveled with the church youth group on mission trips to McAllen, TX. I am one of 3 cooks for 60 people. Robert and I have been on an Alaskan cruise, loved it, and did not get sea sick or lost on the ship. Our Sedona, AZ trip was a really fun week. Robert’s sister has a condo in Naples, FL and we spend a week there every year after tax season. Robert took the boys on a fishing trip to Canada in July; the boys are such fun when they are together.

Many of you knew my 3 sisters, Annette, Kay and Nora. Annette and Nora live in Paducah. Dad and Aunt Mary also lived here until their deaths. Annette married Jim Moss (both are DLU graduates) and have 2 children. Emily is a junior at DLU and B.J. is a junior at Paducah Tilghman high school. Kay married Mack West and they live in Spring Hill, TN (close to Wayne Dunn) and have three children and 2 grandchildren. Nora (also a DLU graduate) divorced several years ago and moved here from Naperville, IL; she is a chemist at a chemical plant near here. I never thought when we moved here that so many of my family would follow.

I regret that I will not be able to attend the reunion on October 1. I work out of the home as an interior designer and a wedding coordinator and I have a wedding that day. I will certainly miss seeing all of you and hope we can do it again soon. Meanwhile I will continue reading everyone’s Bio. If any of you are traveling this way and need a place to stay, I have plenty of room and would love to have you. It has been fun catching up on everyone’s lives for the past 42 years.
